NEW YORK TIMES, 6 April 1995, page A-11, "Entering a Drinking
Culture, College Freshmen Soon Copy it: Binge Drinking before Books
Are Even Bought," summarizes a new study by the Harvard School of
Public Health. The study surveys 720 freshmen at 13 campuses with
have reported the highest drinking rates, mostly in the northeast and
north central states. This study was a follow-up to a larger Harvard
study published in the JOURNAL OF THE AMERICAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION,
Dec. 1994. The TIMES article does not report the location of the
publication of the new study.
