A colleague and I are planning a panel for the 1997 OAH in San
Fransisco, or some later conference. Her paper will concern women and
tavern license laws in 17th-century America; mine will address female
influence, reform, and the liquor trade in the early 19th-century United
States. We conceive of the panel's theme as "Women and the Liquor Trade"
or something like that. We would like to add a third paper. Perhaps
something on a 20th-century topic would be nice, but we're not settled on
anything. Does anyone have any suggestions or proposals? You can reply
directly to me, or to the list if it seems appropriate. Any help would be
appreciated. Thanks.
