Jon -- looking beyond the US: the following book is mostly oriented to
the last 50 years, but includes two long chapters on the Nordic
temperance movements.
Pekka Sulkunen et al., Broken Spirits: Power and Ideas in Nordic
Alcohol Control. Helsinki: NAD, Publication No. 39, 2000.
It can be ordered on the website http://www.kaapeli.fi/nad/ for
70 FIM for a single copy (about $10). If it is being used for a course,
some preliminary negotiation would be needed about quantities and
prices. Robin

Subject: paperbacks for college/university courses on alcohol and
temperance history

We're updating the list of paperbacks appropriate for college &
university courses that address alcohol and temperance history. If
you know of an appropriate work that is available in paper, we'd like
to hear about it. -- Jon
