I am trying to find out information about my husband's grandfather who lived
in Philadelphia from around 1881-1920. He wrote a couple of books about the
evils of alcohol. One is called "Joe's Place". Does anyone know of a group
called the Whosoever? It is a name that has been mentioned in the family that
this grandfather,John William Ross, was associated with. He apparently was
sent to Cuba for something and then died in Florida, penniless. We know so
little about him that any information about the Temperance Movement in
Philadelphia would be helpful. He was a dental surgeon as well as a portrait
painter and he did his own illustrations for his books. I have the publisher
if that would help.
