David,
I am not interested in reviewing books for the ATHG list, at least for the
time being. Reviewing a book on the Internet is an important endeavor, but
one's work needs to have wide distribution. The review needs to be
someplace "permanent," like a gopher hole or a World Wide Web service, where
it can be found easily in the future by librarians and other scholars.
As you may know, H-Net is set up to handle reviews: the logistics of
obtaining and distributing the books, and circulating the reviews to a
potential audience of 18,000 individuals who are H-Net subscribers. Those
reviews are placed in a "permanent" hole somewhere.
Cordially,
Austin Kerr
