I want to add that one of the points raised in Knupfer's article is the
confusion between ounces of alcohol (meaning ethanol) and drinks defined as
.5 ounces of ethanol).  Much of the popular media reporting around the
warnings about FAS confused these figures, so that 3 ounces of ethanol
(meaning 6 drinks per day) became instead 3 drinks per day.  I think this
imprecision continues and I have seen it on several occasions in popular
women's magazines.
