Hello everyone!  

First off, I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who attended the Edward James Olmos event yesterday, it turned out very well, he was great :) 

Here are some upcoming events that I hope to see everyone at:

LOCURA LATINA:  Friday, March 26th at Uptown Underground!  10-11pm Dance Lessons, 11pm-2am Open Floor.  This is the second to last Locura so come enjoy :)

Debate on the Presidency of Hugo Chavez:  Thursday, March 25th in FSB 1000 at 7pm.  This seems like it's going to be very interesting and exciting!! I hope to see you all there!! 

ALSO, IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN COMMUNITY ORGANIZING.... contact Lucy Ohle ([log in to unmask]).  She is from the DART Center, an organization that will be visiting the MU campus on Tuesday, Apr 6 @ 7PM in Upham Hall, Rm 297 to recruit spring graduating students and alums interested in careers in community organizing.

Greetings!

My name is Xanthanese Dean and on behalf of Students for Peace and Justice (SPJ) I would like to invite you to our organization’s “Globalization Gone Wild” presentations Monday, March 29 to Wednesday, March 31.   Spring Break 2010 ten Miami SPJ members traveled to Peru to learn about the country’s struggles with indigenous rights and human trafficking.

Monday, March 29: “Cashing in on Culture: The Effects of Terrorism, Tourism, and Trafficking on Indigenous Life”
On Monday, SPJ will focus on the group’s experiences with rural communities in the highlands of Peru.

Tuesday, March 30: “Human Trafficking: It’s Closer than You Think”
On Tuesday, special guest lecturer Christina Conrad, an Anti-Human Trafficking Specialist from the Salvation Army, will present on human trafficking at a local and international level, and ways that we can become involved in the movement to end trafficking.

Wednesday, March 31: “Surviving in the Streets: A Life of Exploitation, Discrimination, and Abuse”
On Wednesday, SPJ will present first-hand experiences of children living on the street.

*Each presentation is at 8PM in FSB 0019.
