I have been seeing this issue myself.  I have also seen Windows 2000
machines failing the 896688 hotfix.  Trying to get a computer in here to do
some research.

Hope we find a resolution soon :)

Microsoft has a new round of patches available.  Unfortunately, CAA is
refusing many of our students because, so far, it looks like 902400 hasn't
installed properly.  Are others seeing this issue?  Are there other Windows
updates failing to install this round, too?  Is the failure to install
properly spyware-related, as I suspect?  Does anyone know how to manually
download this patch?  I can't find it on http://support.microsoft.com.
