um....WOW....the weekend's highlight for me was OBVIOUSLY getting to
take david's place and play "running mary"....when david called me up on
stage i almost ran out of the club i was so friggin nervous and freaked
out, but somehow i managed to pull it off and had the best time i ever
had on stage in my whole life... mike had a huge smile on his face the
whole time, it was UNBELIEVABLE....bit of bad news, the photos came out
HORRIBLE....totally grainy and dark as hell...i mean, you can tell it's
me, you can tell it's doug and mike, but for the most part all the
photos are dark grainy blurs....looks like the last photo would have
been wonderful too---doug is turned around looking at me clapping over
his head and me and mike are in the middle of a "high-five"
laughing....oh well, NEXT time i'll have five different people with five
different kinds of cameras at five different angles in the room!!
.....we're working on playing a show or two with them in a couple
months, maybe i can beg for another shot at the photo op, but pictures
or not, it'll definately be in my memory forever....anyway, dede (who i
owe a MILLION thanks for carting my ass all over south carolina and
making it all possible) covered most of the highlights...other
highlights for me were just little things like the look of shock on
doug's face when i showed up down south and just sitting around talking
backstage... as for my late night hotel party that i VAUGELY remember, i
believe dede was somewhere with the mayflies and i was busy drinking and
having a great late night reunion and endless chat with doug, both
steves, dave, and ray.....didn't even get back to my own hotel room
until almost 6am, DAMN those boys can sure stay up late :) .....anyway,
i'm STILL tired ---had a 6 hour flight delay the next day after having
about 3 hours sleep....once again, as you all know, they're just the
coolest guys on the planet---i even got a birthday connells baseball hat
signed by everyone in the band with little notes like "running mary
rocked!" etc....anyway, tired but happy happy happy... couldn't have
asked for a better or crazier 30th birthday!!!.....and thanks again,
dede, i couldn't have pulled it off without you! ----sandi, proud to
probably be the only person on the list who knows what a connell show
looks like from the stage :)
