Dillon Fence is a band from Chapel Hill, NC. They formed around 1988 as a
the Beta Theta Pi house band, as 3/4 were Betas (Chris went to Wake
Forest). The band went through some personell changes, but here is the
basic lineup:

GREG HUMPHREYS (vocals, guitar): The heart and soul of the band. He sings on
about 90% of the songs and has a major role in the songwriting.

KENT ALPHIN (guitar, vocals): Plays a lot of the solos, but trades off
with Greg. Kent sings the other 10% of the songs. Kent left the band
about a year ago and plays in a new band now (can't remember the name).

CHRIS GOODE (bass): Chris left the band about the same time Kent did. I
think he wanted to go to graduate school, but I'm not sure.

SCOTT CARLE (drums): Still with the band. Scott joined before the
Rosemary CD.

DISCOGRAPHY

DILLON FENCE - a great 6-song EP put out by themselves in 1989. Mammoth
re-released it after releasing Rosemary. It is currently out of print,
but CAN be found in used bins around Chapel Hill.

CHRISTMAS (Mammoth) - A 3-song EP with a song called Christmas, which is
just OK.

ROSEMARY (Mammoth) - Their first full-length CD. Great songs are Daylight
and Something for You.

DAYLIGHT (Mammoth) - EP with (I think) 4 songs. It's not bad, but boy
that's a lot of EP's!

OUTSIDE IN (Mammoth) - The first 4 songs are outstanding. Too bad Mammoth
couldn't pull more weight for them then.

LIVING ROOM SCENE (Mammoth) - This was released in Oct 1994 and with the
exception of the the first 4 songs (which still have to grow on you), was
a huge disappointment. The title song is great, and is regularly covered
by Letters to Cleo.

Dillon Fence has gone though as many changes as I've ever heard of a
band doing. They were a very light, happy, pop band in the beginning, and
now they are much more of a pop, sugar-sounding band. I have actually
heard Thin Lizzy in some of their newest stuff. It's kind of
disappointing, but who knows?!
I spoke to Greg recently and he feels worn out by the DF thing. He is
the only original member, and ponders the question, "Why am I still trying
got carry this torch?" He is clearly marketable as a solo artist, and is
starting a new funk/soul band which I've heard is great. We'll see. As
for now, though, Dillon Fence is on hold. We'll see if we ever hear from
them again.
