I do a radio show in Atlanta on WRAS 88.5fm and I've come across
alot of excellent bands that fall along the same line as The Connells...
well, at least in terms of mellow/folk type rock.
- CAMPER VAN BEETHOVEN (David Lowery's (of CRACKER) former band)
- DREAMS SO REAL (Athens band that was fairly big in GA for about a month)
- UNCLE GREEN (Now 3lbs Thrill) although they used to be more layed
back... Brendan Benson produced their albums before he struck it big with
Pearl Jam, STP, etc...
- CHRIS STAMEY (Formerly of The Mavericks)
- Grant McClennan (Australian) used to play guitar for THE GO-BETWEENS
- THE GO-BETWEENS
- RED HOUSE PAINTERS (prepare to get depressed)
I now what you're thinking. These bands really don't sound all
that much like The Connells. The bands mentioned above are just
suggestions of music that most Connells fans would probably like. The
basic musical genre is generally the same.
