As a human caught up in this chaos i can work for progress.  as a kindred spirit with the universe i can see progress.  as a wanderer on the path of possibilities i can imagine progress.  as a soul caught up in the eternal i can know progress.  As a descendant of slaves I certainly believe that we have made progress.  As one who sees the possibilities of a world without strife I can dream of progress.  As a dreamer longing for a place without war I can speak of progress.  As a child of freedom I can believe in progress.  As a lover Of life i can believe in progress. As a cell in the great cosmic whole I can attest to progress.  And as one who works toward a better day I can believe in progress.  So I am a progressive.
