Subject: A search for a better Economic Assistance Model
At our school we have a broad number of activities seeking to further economic
development in the state. Specifically, the Pamplin College of Business in
involved with : International marketing programs utilizing Graduate students,
the Small Business Institute (yes, it continues without the SBA $) utilizing
undergraduate students, A Business/Technology Center providing consulting
assistance to High Tech Companies (utilizing both faculty and outside
consultants), a Continuing Education Program primarily focusing on closed
enrollment products for client companies and a local Score operation. Once upon
a time there even was an SBDC!.

We are pondering a restructure to bring these elements together to increase
effectiveness and reduce redundant administrative effort. Your thoughts and
success stories would be helpful. Thanks Herb Cork
