I posted this message to the BUSFAC list the other day, and only got one
reply to date.  Please excuse the intrusion of multiple posts, but I'm
trying to persevere (!).  Any help will be _*GREATLY*_ appreciated.
 
I'm trying to get a handle on the many ways that business schools use to
"qualify" an applicant for admission to MBA programs.  Many programs use
some combination of GMAT score and undergraduate GPA as an admission criterion,
on the basis that a lower GMAT and higher GPA (or vice versa) may average
out to indicate someone who can do -- and benefit from -- the work of the
program.
 
Another model is to require the candidate to take an "unassembled
examination", which includes GMAT (and/or other standardized test) scores,
GPA, written work samples, letters of recommendation, rating scales, etc.
etc.  The unassembled examination score is some function of individual
scores on those individual instruments.
 
I would like those who read this post to drop me a note and tell me how
you do it.  Our department is trying to improve the selection process, and
we just need some ideas about how others do it.
 
Your input will be appreciated.  BTW, if you know of a published reference
that discusses this kind of thing, I would like to know about that, too!!
