As it turns out, it appears these messages were *not* in fact lost, but
were re-queued and eventually delivered late Saturday afternoon.
All BITNET mail to and from Miami University passes through the Digital
OpenVMS cluster in Oxford (MiaVX1) and is received from and delivered
to BITNET by way of The Ohio State University via the DECnet protocol.
When MiaVX1 is unable to deliver BITNET mail (whether to Ohio State or
to another system here at Miami) because of an actual error (rather than
the other site simply being temporarily unavailable), it retains that mail
as an error file for manual examination by MCIS Technical Support staff.
Kent Covert located the error files resulting from this incident late
Saturday afternoon and promptly effected their delivery.
