Miami Computing & Information Services (MCIS) will be installing a
new version of MAIL and NEWS on Tuesday, March 14, 1995 on the DEC OpenVMS
system in Oxford (MiaVX1).

The new version of MAIL adds the following 2 changes:

1) The mail program will compresses the user's mail database every 30
days. This should help users recover disk space in their accounts.
2) Users can now specify a TPU editor configuration that is specific to
MAIL. In looking for an editor configuration file, MAIL will look for
    the following (in order):
      1) a MAIL_EVE$INIT logical,
      2) an EVE$INIT.MAIL file in the current directory, or
      3) a SYS$LOGIN:EVE$INIT.MAIL file.
If all of these fail, the normal EVE initialization search takes place.

The new version of NEWS adds the following change:

1) Users can now specify a TPU editor configuration that is specific to
NEWS. In looking for an editor configuration file, NEWS will look for
    the following (in order):
      1) a NEWS_EVE$INIT logical,
      2) an EVE$INIT.NEWS file in the current directory, or
      3) a SYS$LOGIN:EVE$INIT.NEWS file.
If all of these fail, the normal EVE initialization search takes place.
