What I've heard (that's right -- it's not official) is that we're moving
to support one transport protocol only, and that's IP. Right now, you can
dial up Miami's PPP peer, and do IPX over PPP. I've heard that as soon as
Miami can get NetwareIP (IPX tunneling through IP) working well, we're
going to turn off IPX over PPP, and we'll only do IPX over IP (over PPP).
My guess is that we'll get NetwareIP working, enable IPX over IP, disable
IPX over PPP, and then AppleTalk over PPP will come out, but we will
already have conveniently moved away from anything but IP over PPP.
If you want to see dial-up AppleTalk, you might want to start passing
around petitions for AppleTalk over IP.
