(Yes, I am replying to my own message...)

Ok, you wanted me to report the time. It happened again today. I was typing an
e-mail message at 1:00 when I suddenly received a message saying Goodbye, this
terminal... (it did *not* say I had been idle too long). I tried calling back,
got on at 1:01. The modems did their handshaking, then established a connection
at 57,600. It locked up. I hung up and tried again, with the same results. I
repeated this about once a minute until 1:06. Then, out of curiosity, I
changed my modem settings so it would not go any higher than 14.4 and dialed
back. Bingo, I got in.

This is strange; I usually get on at 57.6 with no problems. I think the last
time this happened, I was connecting at 57.6 as well (but the good connection
later was, too). Perhaps one of the modems can't handle 57.6 properly?

Regards,
Bob

Addendum: I typed the rest of this message earlier, but encountered problems
posting. This time I got logged on (after 48 minutes of continuous dialing...)
and made a connection at 57.6. The modem and computer have not been reset since
earlier, so it almost has to be on that end.
