Let's try this again!
Proposal: Formation of an amateur radio club, and establishment of a
club station here at Miami University. The club would be
open to all licensed hams and anyone else that would be
interested.
Discussion: Knowing that amateur radio clubs exist at a large number
of universities across the country and the world, I have
wondered why one doesn't exist here at Miami. A little
research has shown that there a close to 100 licensed ham
radio operators here at Miami, faculty/staff and student.
There are many more hams here, who could not be determined.
I'm sure there a many more individuals that have had some
interest in amateur radio, and some that would like to know
more about it.
Many of these clubs at other universities are doing some
interesting things using the air waves that are also being
done on the internet. I believe we have enough talent here
at Miami, and from preliminary discussion, enough interest to
form a viable organization that could go a long way toward
promoting the ham radio hobby and to provide another means for
students to develop and express themselves.
I would like to hear from any one, licensed or otherwise, that *WOULD BE
INTERESTED* in seeing a club formed and/or would like to be a part of
starting a club. Reply here or directly to me on your thoughts.
