Announcing Miami's first 24-hour computer lab!
**********************************************
MacCracken lab (in central quad) will remain open for 24 hours for the
first time in Miami history for eleven consecutive days
during midterm week to accomodate increased usage.
This trial begins on Sunday, February 23 and ends on Wednesday,
March 3.
===============================================================================
Thanks to the Miami Computing Information Services department for their
willingness to explore the possibility of 24-hour labs and finding available
staff to support the lab. Personal thanks go to Jim Wilson, Ginger Barger,
Patti Gregg, Kathie Robinson and the LTC technical staff who are willing to
give-up some valuable evenings to work the 2am-7am graveyard shift due to the
lack of student-staff availability. They are truly going above and beyond.
Thanks also to Cathryn House, Perry Gordon and the Public Safety department
for their willingness to provide safe transport for students during those
extended hours.
If the demand for these labs is sufficient during this trial period, the
possibility is good for maintaining these hours during finals and potentially
indefinitely.
This is a direct result of multiple requests from the student body to
the Associated Student Government.
