Between the rain and having to check in for my upcoming trip, I didn’t bird in the morning but decided to go for a walk in the early afternoon to get some exercise. I didn’t expect to find much of anything altho an E Phoebe by the parking lot was nice.

But then I came upon a magic tree on a back trail where chickadees and titmouse were having a conniption fit. Several warblers came into the same small tree: at least three Bay-breasted, 1 Blackpoll, 1 Chestnut-sided, 1 female B&W, 2 BT Green and a Nashville. They fussed and fed for a few minutes then dispersed. V cool! Just down the trail, I added Redstart & Magnolia.

The rest of the walk was v quiet but as I was checking some tangles, a flash of v bright yellow caught my eye—a Blue-winged! Just gorgeous on a gray day. As I left, I spotted a Swainson’s Thrush and a RC Kinglet. Towhees & Catbirds. Only nuthatch was White-breasted.

Not bad for an afternoon stroll.

I still have chipping sparrows and an occasional RT Hummingbird at my feeders.
