I hadn’t been to see the Snowy for awhile so I took advantage of the sunny (but still cold) day for a visit. She was towards the east side on the rip rap & appeared in good health. I gathered the owl had been sitting there for most of the day although I heard she had been in a small tree in the morning. Aside from some preening and looking around, she was busy conserving energy while a small group of photographers and birders kept a reasonable distance. Still lovely to watch even if I didn’t get to see her fly or hunt.

There was a Red-tailed adult closer to the parking lot but the two birds seemed to ignore each other.

I made a quick stop at blendon woods on the way home and picked up a few 2021 birds: 2 turkeys, one Yellow-rumped, some Redheads glowing in the late afternoon light. Only other ducks were mallards. There was one great blue heron at Walden pond as well.
