I started this afternoon checking fields for Longspurs. Nuttin.....I know the lack
of snow cover down here wouldn't help my search, but I expected a few!
No.

I ended up close to Lost Bridge - so I hit there. I wasn't expecting much. The
south side is all frozen. But that working pit with water on the north side
was loaded with waterfowl!

It took awhile, but I finally tracked down a Cackler in with all those Canadas.
I love studying geese. Different subspecies than my usual east coast birds.
I still need to look up and research Moffiti. I had a small flock a couple months
ago. Close. So I managed a nice pic. Someday I will get to it.....

Back to Lost bridge - Canvasback in. 13 GWF Geese. That drifted past me as
I scanned. And I never saw them again. I don't think they flew off, but the
birds were swimming back and forth. And disappearing at times. Scope
useful today, but not needed. A lot of stuff was fairly close to the road in
this pond.

Good birding all. Cackling Goose was a Hamilton bird!
