For the last couple weeks or so a flock of 50 to 100 common grackles have been hanging out in my area, coming and going, fun to observe since if one of them gets spooked they all take off in a flurry only to gradually come back. Yesterday there were hundreds more maybe more than a thousand, hard to tell since they just kept flying over in a long column. A lot of them hung out in the local woods all day. It was silent today but in the late afternoon I heard some in the distance. I know it's not unusual but it's always a thrill to experience this, plus there may have been other species of blackbirds mixed in but all I saw and heard were common grackles.
