A friend and I birded CJ Brown Reservoir in Buck Creek State Park (Clark
County) this morning. There were lots of ducks covering the lake.
Every spot we stopped to scan had big rafts all over.
The most numerous were Lesser Scaup and Red-breasted Mergansers,
followed by Mallards and Hooded Mergansers.
We saw 16 duck species in all including Gadwall, N. Shoveler,
Bufflehead, and Wood Duck which we saw in Old Reid Park just downstream
from the Dam.

Highlights were 6 Greater White-fronted Geese which circled over us
before landing for good views, and a pair of White-winged Scoters; the
male looking quite dashing in his breeding finest. The white-fronts were
seen at the north end among the islands from the access off of Grant
Road. The scoters were seen from the Lake View area by the dam, looking
to the northeast toward the campground point.

Other water birds are coming through too. We saw some Common Loons,
Horned and Pied-billed Grebes, American Coots, a couple DC Cormorants,
and Ring-billed, Herring and Bonaparte's Gulls.
