November 23, Vic Fazio, Sandy Tkach, and I conducted the regular monthly
survey on the island. This is the 18th year for the November survey.
72 species
and 27871 individuals were observed during the survey. Both are
November highs! The November average is 56 species and 11,524
individuals. Only an American Coot was new for a November survey.
Unusual species were Surf Scoter, Black Scoter, and Common Redpoll
plus a Gadwall X Mallard hybrid. Surprising non-recorded species were
American Tree Sparrow and Swamp Sparrow. In the evening, a Long-eared
Owl was observed flying down Woodford Road.

Today (11/24), with this warmer weather, a Turkey Vulture was observed.
