Wow - at 3:00 pm this afternoon (10/25/06), I observed a feeding frenzy performed by a group of 150+ tree swallows swirling and diving for insects above one of our grassland farm fields.
Yesterday (10/24/06) mid-morning, from our dinette window Vic and I watched 50-60 tree swallows snatching bugs from the surface of a small pond in the field next to our yard. It resembled a graceful fast-moving water ballet!
