A lone male White-winged Crossbill spent 20 minutes feeding on the ground and on spruce cones in our yard today 3-3-09. This is a new yard bird for our small city lot in Canton. Just happened to look out at the goldfinches and spotted him. Makes you wonder how many birds visit one's yard that are never seen.
