Stayed close to home with the iffy weather today, and found fairly good #s of migrants. I started at WoodsideGreen & Academy Parks in Gahanna, then moved over to Blendon Woods, hiking the Goldenrod Trail, Lake Trail, and Overlook-Streamside Trail Loop. This was definitely an 'ear-birding' day, as the leafed out trees provided plenty of places for birds to hide. Among the notables were

cuckoo - unidentified bird flashed past us at the end of the Lake Trail
Flycatchers - Pewee, Acadian common, while Leasts were at many stops. GreatCrested were at WoodsideGreen, while E.Kingbirds & E.Phoebe were at Thoreau Lake

Vireos - Red-eyed were abundant at both parks. Woodside Green had Warbling, while the Lake Trail had Yellow-throated, and the CherryValley Picnic area at Blendon had a White-eyed

Thrushes - Swainson's were common in the wooded areas of both parks, while a few Wood Thrushes were also singing there.

Warblers - 20 species, with Redstarts easily the most abundant, reaching double-digits at most areas. Also had good #s of Chesnut-sided (7+), Tennessee (5), Magnolia (4), and ComYellowthroats (5). Others included Parula (WG), Yellow (BlendW), Nashville (BlendW), Blackburnian, Yellow-throated (2 WG), Black-thr.Green, Yellow-rumped (1 lingerer at WG), Blackpolls, N.Waterthrush (BlendW), La.Waterthrush (2 BlendW, including 1 carrying food), Ovenbird (BlendW), Canada (BlendW), Wilson's (BlendW), Hooded (3 BlendW), and Mourning (1 WG)

Sparrows - E.Towhees, Field, Chipping, Song, White-throated

Others: Scarlet & Summer Tanagers (BlendW), Rose-br.Grosbeaks (both parks), Indigo Buntings (both parks), Baltimore Orioles (WG)
