It was just one of those days today along the Lorain lakefront. Two Merlins sitting treetop in a front yard on Lake Rd. were the first sign that today was going to be special. I spent most of my time lakewatching from the end of the pier at Lorain Harbor, where an astounding 115 Black Terns passed. There were appx. 60 birds present around the mouth of harbor most of the afternoon, and several other groups passed to the east. A classic light juv. Parasitic Jaeger also passed the pier quite closely, and headed west through the harbor. Patty McKelvey and I discovered an adult Little Gull at Lakeview Park mid-morning, but I couldn't refind it around 4 PM. Two American Avocets did pass by here later in the day. There are thousands of Bonaparte's Gulls & hundreds of terns in the immediate Lorain Harbor area at the moment...tomorrow could be equally promising.

Good birding!
