Returning home from Fremont this morning at 11:45, we observed 13 bald eagles in a farm field 3 1/2 miles SE of Oak Harbor just off Mud Creek Road a short distance from our farm.  What an entertaining incident!  Surprisingly the group contained no adults - one 3-year old, and twelve immature eagles.  Ten of the immatures resembled a group of kids playing - jumping, walking/running in that odd eagle way of walking, and bumping into each other.  A short distance to the SE, the remaining 3 were socializing in a calmer manner. What a sight!  This farm field is very close to the woods in which the Mud Creek eagle pair is brooding 3-week old eaglets.  Both Mud Creek adults were by the nest and did not seem upset with this flurry of "foreign" eagle activity in their territory.
    When we arrived home, I saw 3 more bald eagles in the field across from our house - 1 adult and two immature eagles sitting quietly.
    Perhaps these 16 eagles decided to take a mid-day break before continuing on their migration route.
