I was at Lake Erie Bluffs this afternoon with my son. We walked the trails
west of Lane Road. We were not able to relocate the northern shrike. I
haven't seen it since the first few days of January. We were able to find
some interesting birds. The most interesting was finding all three Ohio
mimids. There was a gray catbird at the end of Lane Road, a thrasher in the
southwest corner of the field, and a mockingbird in the northwest corner. I
also found a single northern flicker. There was a harrier and American
kestrel at the south end of the property. There was a steady stream of
gulls overhead. I didn't see anything other than a few great black-backed
gulls. There were quite a few mergansers on the open lake.
