Hi Robert

Your list is really interesting, I am still enjoying it. I saw a Blue-winged Teal at Muscatatuck in Indiana yesterday, and sure enough, they appear on your list. Do you glean your information from ebird?

Northern Temperate migrants are pushing through now, so expect more
waterfowl, raptors, sparrows, towhees, blackbirds. The first Gulf Coast
migrants – Blue-winged Teal,Tree Swallows,E.Phoebes – are starting to
appear in numbers as well. The cold snap seems to have paused landbird
migrants, but as we warm back up, they’ll be back. Now is also the time to
start watching for migrant strays, as recent Eurasian Wigeon & Western
Meadowlark records imply.

Snow Goose – few strays in eastern half of area, while west has flocks,
like the 3000 at Goose Pond FWA in IN 2-26

Ross’s Geese – scattered remnants. 1 was at Acton lake N of Cincinnati
2-28, while another was at Jacobson Park in SE Lexington KY 2-24

GreaterWhite-frontedGeese – still small flocks in SW Indiana and western
Kentucky. 5 strayed to Killdeer Plains in N central OH 2-29, while 1 was in
a pond W of Pittsburgh PA Airport 3-01

2-28 thru 3-01, Big Island WA (near Marion) OH 2-29, Killdeer Plains WA OH
2-29, Funk Bottoms WA (near Wooster) OH 3-01, Slough WMA in west KY 2-26,
and Lake Shelbyville in east IL 2-25

Blue-winged Teal – possibly the migrant vanguard, with birds at Clear Fork
Res OH 2-28, and Fairbanks Park in Indianapolis IN 2-28. 1 has been at Wolf
Lake fish hatchery (W of Kalamazoo) MN thru 2-29.

Eurasian Wigeon – several, with birds at Killbuck Marsh (near Wooster) OH
2-27&28, Killdeer Plains (near Upper Sandusky) OH 2-25&26, Marysville
Reservoir OH 2-28

White-winged Scoter – none really in our areas, but 2 at Gull Lake NE of
Kalamazoo MN 2-25

Black Scoter – a blip of migrants, with 3 at Deer Creek SP beach (near
Washington Court House) OH 2-24 and East Rd in McLean Co IL 2-24 & 25

Horned Grebe – widespread, with individuals at many locations as their
migration starts to gear up.

Eared Grebe – none in our area, but a celebrity bird at Lincoln Park in
Chicago 2-25 thru 29

White Pelicans – flocks around western OH and northern IN now

Neotropical Cormorant – 1 found in Rookery Run Preserve far south of
Chicago IL 2-25 thru 27

Least Sandpipers – at Gilmore MetroPark (N of Cincinnati) OH 2-26, 3-01,
