I live in SW Pennsylvania and bird there and in Ohio at Seneca Lake. I am 18 and have been a birder for 14 years (my mom was a park naturalist and gave me a my first bird book at 4) I recently saw a hermit thrush while birding in Ohio, I also witnessed a catbird being chased by a gang of angry juncos. During the CBC I attended in Pennsylvania, I saw a brown thrasher and a male bobolink. When I report my sightings to older birders, they are skeptical, because I am young or they do not believe these birds would be in the north in winter. I appreciate reading these posts, because other birders see see unusual visters in winter.

In Pennsylvania, there is no shortage of house sparrows. they live in the entrance of the grocery store, in the Walmart garden center and are nesting in the strip mall signs. My neighbor feeds a flock of about 50
