I hit a variety of migrant traps across south Columbus this rainy morning,
hoping that the weather had grounded some migrants, but finding only
sporadic small fallouts. The main targets were the Confluence area of
3-Creeks and the riparian woods of Scioto Grove. While both had some
temperate migrants, neither had a sizeable number of them. Notables
included:

Blue-winged Teals - small numbers were at Cruiser Pond and Scioto Grove
Common Loon - 1 was flying up the Scioto River at Scioto Grove, an unusual
location
Diving Ducks - despite checking most of the ponds & quarries along this
route, the only diving ducks were some 15 Lesser Scaup in the Parsons Rd
Quarry.

Coots - small flocks were at several areas
Sapsuckers - not a single one, despite being in decent habitat all morning
N.Flickers - good #s at most spots; Scioto Grove had the high with 8
Blue-headed Vireo - 1 was singing at 3-Creeks
Gnatcatchers - fair #s at every stop; 3-Creeks had 5
Kinglets - no big numbers, but both species were present at most sites
Hermit Thrush - single birds at 3-Creeks and Scioto Grove
Brown Thrashers - good numbers, with 1-2 birds at nearly every stop
Warblers - Yellow-rumps & Yellow-throated in many spots; 3-Creeks also had
a singing Ovenbird
Sparrows - Field Sparrows were in good #s at most spots; Scioto Grove had
the high with 16+. Most spots also had Chipping and Juncos, and Scioto
Grove also had a Swamp Sparrow
