Thanks to Matt Mason for suggesting I try Lobdell Reserve for woodcocks. I ventured out in the cold around sunset tonight & it wasn’t long before I heard one quite vocal bird then I heard at least one other, possibly 2. Besides the peent call, I heard the display flight but in the fading light, I just couldn’t get on it.

The vocal bird seemed quite close but I couldn’t spot it on the ground either. Still, it was great to hear this wonderful harbinger of spring.

Thx Matt!
