OK all. I have held this under my hat since Feb 1 when I heard an
unmistakable lark sparrow song from a brush pile behind a neighbor's
house off Dublin Road S. of the Hayden Run Bridge in Columbus. I got
a very brief sighting, but the id was still primarily on the auditory
image which I matched with several from the on line catalog of sounds
on the Borror Laboratory of Bioacoustics web site. Even though I am
more pretty proficient at bird song id I didn't feel I should make
the report based on that on this forum.
But!!! this am at my bird feeder the (a) lark sparrow was observed
for over 20 minutes - no doubt on identification.
I have had lark sparrow at my house and the BLB in their collection
in early spring - but never before March.
Cheers, Sandy
