The wetland area at Glacier Ridge appears to be shrinking fast, but there
was still an impressive variety of birds foraging and fishing this morning.
We arrived around 7:30 and saw numerous young virginia rails scurrying
about, along with sandpipers, killdeer, and at least two green heron. We
walked over to the small pond by the barn/picnic area just in time to see a
least bittern swallow an impressively large frog and disappear back into the
reeds.
