Although there wasn’t a plethora of birds this chilly, mist-rising morning, I saw some excellent birds.

I was delighted to find a pair of Purple Finches, a first for me at the Preserve. They were feeding on some bright red, shiny berries that Cedar Waxwings, cardinals, towhees & robins were eating. The male had stunning plumage, a rich wine red and the female was v contrasty. I actually haven’t seen this lovely bird well that many times so it was a treat.

Also had a flyover by an imm Bald Eagle.

Warblers were scarce but I had Nashville, Yellow-rumped, Blackpoll and Magnolia.

Vireos: Blue-headed and White-eyed.

RC Kinglets easy to find, one was even singing softly. 2 got into it, raising their ruby-crowns.

At least 2 E Phoebes. House Wren. Small flock of waxwings, adults still feeding juvs. Belted KF. I also heard a Brown Thrasher.

Sparrows: couple White-throated, Field, Song.
