Thanks to Randy"s post yesterday we tried again for the Black Scoter this morning. This time we got lucky. Schwartzwalder Road is now at least passable by foot. We walked far enough to have the sun at our backs and the bird flew in close from a group of scalp farther out. This time there were no heat waves and the views were stunnung. We've never had this bird this close.
We then went over to Wright Marsh to observe the 4 Surf Scoters from the railroad tracks . This was a lot easier.
