Beaver Falls, PA

I usually make one mid-winter trip from Beaver Falls to Trumbull County,
Ohio to check out this mid-winter raptor magnet. The past several years
have been really nice because I've had the place to myself, except for a few
local motorists flying past. As I approached the causeway, I was astounded
by the number of cars parked here today. I guess this is the first time in
about three to four years that the reservoir has been totally frozen over,
and the number of people ice fishing (tents set up all across the reservoir)
was astounding. Even at the north boat launch, one of the most desolate
parts of the park, there were about a dozen vehicles. Needless to say, the
number of eagles was way down as there were very limited areas of open
water. I would normally expect to tally at least 10-12.

Bald Eagles: 2 adults, 1 third-year bird (White Belly 2), 1 first-year
(immature)

No eagles were at the nest on Townline Rd. Has anyone seen any activity
around this nest this year?

Red-tails: 9 (probably undercounted - they're everywhere)

Red-shouldered: 2

Rough-legged: 1 dark

Harrier: 1 female (the lowest count for me at this location to date)
