I took a good look around Poland Twp. and Coitsville Twp. in NE Mahoning Co. today. In general, birds other than crows and jays were hard to find. 3 Cackling geese were with Canadas (mostly "giants") at King's L. Also of interest were: sharp-shinned hawk, red-shouldered hawk, red-tailed hawk, 9 red-bellied woodpeckers, 10 downy woodpeckers, 2 pileated woodpeckers, hairy woodpecker, 14 e. bluebirds, dark-eyed juncos, and Am. goldfinches. The day-long Xbill search yielded only 2 purple finches in the last half hour. Better than nothin' though......Craig
