Despite the windy, frigid conditions, this Westerville MetroPark had plenty
of birds this afternoon, if you were careful to inspect the lee areas.
Shrock lake continues to be impressive for waterfowl, and some of the
protected areas along the Ed Thomas Trail and the Spring Creek Trail
offered up some surprises.  Included in the list were:

N.Shovelers - still 6-8 paddling around Shrock Lake
Diving Ducks - still pairs of Lesser Scaup, Ring-necked Duck, and
Bufflehead on Shrock Lake
Wild Turkeys - a cluster of 5 were walking along the Spring Creek Trail
Brown Creepers - 2 were foraging in the protected ravine along the Spring
Creek Trail
Tree Swallows - a flock of 25+ were furiously foraging over the surface of
Shrock Lake
E.Phoebe - 1 was foraging over a wind-less rain puddle along the Spring
Creek Trail
E.Bluebirds - at least 2 were around the edge of the Apple Ridge picnic area
Vesper Sparrows - at least 2 were hanging around the margins of the Apple
Ridge picnic area
Fox Sparrow - 1 was singing along the eastern edge of the Spring Creek Trail
Juncos - still 1-2 along both the Thomas Trail and the Spring Creek Trail
