Yesterday, the Corpus Christi hawk watch counted 3475 Mississippi kites
passing over southbound. This Texas spot is on their flight path via the
isthmus to wintering grounds in central and south America.
If you have been putting off going to see the Hocking County birds, you
may have waited past the last minute. They seem often to be faithful to
nests sites, so maybe they'll be back, if they actually nested here. As
far as I know, we have not verified successful reproduction by the
Hocking birds; if you have such information, please let us know!
Thanks,
Bill Whan
