Fellow birders,
Just back from completing my Traditional thanksgiving Day task. As
I've done every year for nearly 20 years, I've walked the one mile
property perimeter with about a dozen No Hunting signs, my binoculars,
and all available dogs - 4 this year. Saw a few Eastern Towhees, Song,
White Throated, and Tree Sparrows and one Golden Crowned Kinglet (the
seventh this week).
I've also just enjoyed my traditional Thanksgiving day turkey
sandwich with mashed potatoes, gravy and vegies (and all available
dogs - 4). Outside the window the Nuthatches and Woodpeckers were
enjoying their suet dinners, the Belted Kingfisher was at the pond,
hopefully enjoying a small bluegill or two, and the robins and waxwings
were in the crab trees, getting drunk on fermented fruit. All in all,
a great thanksgiving dinner for everyone in this part of Perry County,
and a great day overall.
Hope you are having a good thanksgiving, too.

Joe in the woods
Perry County, Ohio
