As reported earlier by others on Facebook birding groups, a saw whet owl
continues at Cleveland Lakefront Nature Preserve. We got to see it
yesterday. Frequents the pine trees adjacent to the Police Station parking
lot before one actually enters the CLNP gate. Really good at hiding inside
the tree. Same trees are good for red-breasted nuthatches, too.
Other recent sightings;
- numerous turkey vultures roosting thru the winter in downtown Brecksville.
- gray morph screech owl at Station Rd towpath, CVNP, Brecksville.
- large waterfowl variety on Turkeyfoot and Summit Lakes, Summit County.
(These lakes freeze later than most inland lakes in NE Ohio.)
- long distance sighting of a snowy owl at Hopkins Airport (CLE) from the
Bomber Group restaurant - again as previously noted by others.
- approx 1000 ring-billed gulls yesterday in downtown Cleveland (Wendy
Park,
Edgewater Marina), with 1 Bonaparte's, 6 greater black-backeds.
- the Cohens
