Alas, I didn’t get an early start. Didn’t start birding up there until around
9:00. That’s pretty late for June! Especially a hot day. I was surprised at
What was singing. Ovenbirds, YT Warblers, BB Cuckoo, YB Cuckoos,
Yellow throated Vireos, Chat, etc. I even had an L. Waterthrush as I got
Out of my car at the bridge over the creek - the outflow from the dam.
So that’s where they are up here! I have never birded that spot before.
Looks very interesting. A good sky view, the creek. Etc. BB Cuckoo was
New for the big year. 182. I had hit this area because of the extensive
Woods here. I was hoping for Hooded, Worm eating, RB Grosbeak. No.
I ended at a power line cut on the east side of the lake. No Blue winged
Warbler. Of course mid day didn’t help! I'll start here next time up this
Way. Hopefully in a couple weeks. But I have a couple botany spots and
A butterfly spot I want to hit. Lots to do!
I hit an area for Dickcissel next. Hart rd. Or something like that. Nope.
Again, mid day. I'll keep trying!
Butterfly notes - just the usual - Little Wood Satyrs, Zabulons, Silver spotted
Skippers, etc.
Good birding all.
