I had 2 there this noonish. Scanning from the entry road. Place is closed because of the high water levels on the Ohio. Hopefully they will stick, but new in. Could leave soon. I was there yesterday looking for a Herring Gull. Which is a Hamilton bird for me! No Herring Gull either trip…. But the Ross’s is a new bird. Number 200 for Hamilton!
Back to gulls - I haven’t found many spots for gulls in this county. Lost Bridge bring a good spot. Usually Armleder is not a good gull spot. But it’s flooded at present. I’ll try again for the Herring Thursday. If time.
My favorite spots for gulls in SW Ohio are East Fork - south beach. And Caesar Creek marina
Yesterday I hit the rivers edge park in Butler. Next to the sewage treatment plant. I love sewage treatment plants with open water ponds! And birds love it! Rough winged Swallow a great January bird. And a lingering Orange crowned Warbler. I intend to hit here when I can. No Gnatcatcher or Catbird - yet!
Cave Swallow would be nice. Etc.
Especially if? It gets cold that spot will help birds with the insects. It’s warmer than I thought today.
Good birding all.
