This MetroPark NE of Columbus had some signs of Autumn this morning. Not only were some trees starting to change, but birds were in mixed species flocks with a few migrants thrown in the mix. A few hours of roaming around the Thomas and Spring Creek trails, plus a trip to nearby Heritage Park in Westerville, found the following highlights:

Yellow-billed Cuckoo - none at Sharon Woods, but 1 was calling at Heritage Park

Hummingbirds - 5-6 Ruby-throats were along the wood edges in the park

Flycatchers - the new-expected plethora of Pewees (14/2hrs) was augmented by a calling Least Flycatcher and a few E.Phoebes (at Shrock Lake).

Swallows - surprisingly light, with only a scattering of Barn Swallows

Vireos - calling Yellow-throated, Warbling, and Red-eyed, but #s were low

Thrushes - no unequivocal migrants, but a Wood Thrush along the Spring Creek Trail was rather late.

Cedar Waxwings - a flock of 12 at Shrock Lake represents one of the first flocks I've had this season

Warblers - single Yellow Warbler & N.Waterthrush were around the margins of Shrock Lake, while a Nashville and American Redstart were with chickadee-titmice flocks along the Spring Creek Trail

Tanagers - at least 2 different females were along the Spring Creek trail
