Hello all, yeah again I'm sorry if I sounded grumpy about that coffee
posting suggestion (maybe its because I haven't had my cup of shade
grown, fair trade yet this morning...J/k) , that wasn't my intent to
seem like I'm coming down on anyone, I just thought it would be a good
discussion to have over on the other list. but anyways...
I have been wondering where my local American Tree Sparrows
have been lately and I had a suspicion that they were all out there,
but only come in to my feeders when the weather outside gets frightful,
or maybe once they've used up most of their natural food source. SO, I
went out back on the property to explore this theory and bingo, there
they were. They are such handsome sparrows. Now I just need to find a
Fox Sparrow on my land (although I did find a mamallian Red Fox out
there)..... List of other interesting stuff out there;

American Tree Sparrows - 5+
Song Sparrows
White-crowned Sparrow
White-throated Sparrows
Junco's
Golden Crowned Kinglets - 10
Carolina Chickadees
Tufted Titmice
White-breasted Nuthatch - 3
Am. Goldfinch
House Finch
Am. Cardinals
Blue Jays
Am. Crows
Northern Flicker - 1
Downy woodpecker - 4
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 2
Red-tailed Hawk - 1
Barred Owl..? - I saw its tail end briefly as it spooked and flew off
silently only to be mobbed by blue Jays further Ahead, but I couldn't
get a good look at it. It was about the right size/shape but ther have
been some GHO's haunting our area of late as well. I'm amazed after all
the walking out there I do that I haven't found the Screetch Owl's
roosts yet. Tricky little guys, the must be in some hollow tree hole.

Good birding, sorry this post doesn't have much too exciting in it,
but I found it interesting.
